Dental Coordinator

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Trinity Free Clinic is searching for a dental assistant or experienced dental professional to perform the role of the Dental Coordinator. The Dental Coordinator will work with our volunteer dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and IU School of Dentistry students and faculty in our 6 operatory dental wing and will manage the dental clinic operations. The Trinity Free Clinic provides free medical and dental care to the working poor of Hamilton County. Candidate must be compassionate, kind, professional, and have a servant’s heart. Pay range: $14.00 - $18.00 based on skill and experience

Experience: At least 1 year (Preferred)

Language: Bilingual (Spanish) (Preferred)

Software skills: Eaglesoft and MS Office (Preferred)

Location: 1045 W 146th Street, Carmel, IN

License: Certified Dental Assistant (Preferred), X-ray (Preferred, must be willing to become certified)

Work authorization: United States

Approximate hours are as follows (Position will be 32 hours on average):

  • Saturdays 7:30 am - 1:30 pm  

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm 

  • Some Fridays 7:30 pm - 12:00 pm  

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Dental Coordinator provides support to the office and is responsible for assisting the professional dental staff with treatment. Tasks include:

  • Deliver quality and compassionate care to every patient

  • Educate patients in oral hygiene instruction and provide postoperative instructions

  • Prepare patient for examination and treatment

  • Take x-rays and save to patient charts in Eaglesoft

  • Responsible for the operational readiness of the hygiene bay and operatory rooms

  • Prepare tray set-ups for dental procedures

  • Mix amalgam, cement, pulp paste and prepare impression materials

  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment

  • Clean chairs and rooms

  • Assist professional dental staff with treatment

  • Document patient information, treatment plans, and procedures in patient chart

  • -Assist with suctioning, holding retractors and suture cutting during surgical procedures

  • Responsible for adhering to all government
